R. Stephen Wilkinson, CPA
R. Stephen Wilkinson (Steve) founded Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, PLC in January 2003. Since 1999 Steve has also worked as an Independent Financial Advisor with Scott and Stringfellow in Danville, VA. Prior to his profession as an advisor, Steve was a Partner in Harris, Harvey, Neal, and Co., LLP in Danville, VA, in which he worked for over 24 years. With his 40+ years of accounting experience and his education, Steve serves as one of the leading accountants in the Danville area.
Steve graduated Dan River High School in 1971 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business with a Major in Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1975. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1978. Steve has also served in numerous associations in Danville and the surrounding areas. Among these include past President of the Chatham Chamber of Commerce and the Danville Golf Club. He has also served as a Chairman of the Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, Ducks Unlimited, and the Pittsylvania County Economic Development Organization. He is also a past member of the Southern Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Danville Community College Educational Foundation and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Free Clinic of Danville.
Karen Bennett joined Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, PLC in 2004 as a staff accountant. Karen has over 25 years of experience in the tax and accounting fields. She has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Averett College. Karen has worked for Belk Store Services in Charlotte, NC as a Tax Accountant and Harris, Harvey, Neal, and Co., LLP as a Staff Accountant before joining Wilkinson. Karen also served as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of The Danville Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity. In 2016, Karen became a Partner of the Firm and looks to continue to apply her valuable experience with each of our clients.
Karen and her husband, David, reside in Danville and are members of Chatham Presbyterian Church.
J. Aaron Walters, CPA
Aaron Walters joined the staff of Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, PLC in 2009 as a staff accountant after graduating with honors from Averett University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He quickly followed graduation by fulfilling the requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant and has since gained valuable experience in small business tax and consulting work, as well as individual income tax planning and preparation. Aaron, his wife, and two children reside in South Boston, VA. Aaron became a Partner of the Firm in 2016 and looks forward to continuing to serve the members of this great community.
Nancy F. Carter
Nancy F. Carter joined Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, PLC in July 2013 after Dixon Hughes Goodman closed its Danville tax practice. Nancy started her career at Manning, Perkinson, Floyd & Company which in 2001 merged with Goodman & Company who later merged with Dixon Hughes in 2011. Nancy has 45+ years in accounting, payroll, tax (business and personal returns), and specialized services for clients.
Nancy earned her Associate Degree in Accounting and Computer Science from Danville Community College.
Nancy, a lifelong resident of Danville, enjoys spending time on the Riverwalk trail biking and walking, attending church, and traveling with her sister-in-law.
April Fallen, CPA
April Fallen joined Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, PLC in January 2014 as a staff accountant. Before joining Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, she served as the Assistant Vice President and Managing Officer of Carter Bank & Trust in South Boston, VA. Over her 9+ years at Carter Bank, she has served in numerous positions, such as Loan Originator, Customer Service Representative, and Lobby Teller. All of these positions have helped equip her with a solid foundation in the banking and accounting fields.
April earned her Associate of Arts in Accounting from University of Phoenix in December 2011 and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a Minor in Business from Liberty University in May 2014. She is licensed in Virginia as a Certified Public Accountant. April became a Partner of the firm in 2019 and looks to continue her growth in the accounting profession.
April enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She is a member of Grace Baptist Church in Virgilina, VA and currently resides in Turbeville, VA.
Jeanne Owen joined Wilkinon Consulting & CPA, PLC in 2016 as a bookkeeper. Jeanne has over 20 years of experience working in accounting offices of multiple manufacturing plants. She has worked in all areas of accounting and brings this experience with her.
She has taken many college courses to further her knowledge of accounting.
Jeanne is a member of Dan River Church where she volunteers in all areas of service. She and her husband, Malcolm, enjoy working on projects to improve their home and also enjoy kayaking and camping. She enjoys going to Virginia Beach to spend time with her family and loves spending time with her dogs, Oscar and Mitsi.
Courtney Capps joined Wilkinson Consulting & CPA, PLC in June 2017 as a Staff Accountant. She graduated with honors from Averett Universty in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Courtney is also a member of the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society.
She is currently working to fulfill the requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant.
Courtney resides in Danville, VA and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Kristen Clay joined Wilkinson Consulting & CPA in 2019 as an Administrative Assistant. Through her 10 years of managing Cedar Hill Gun Range she gained valuable experience in public relations and business operations.
Kristen earned an Associate Degree in Micro-Computer Specialist from Danville Community College in 1995.
Kristen is a Danville native who resides in Pelham, NC with her husband and two sons. She attends Lively Stones Baptist Church and enjoys camping, reading, birding and working in her flower gardens.
Tracy Stapleton joined Wilkinson Consulting & CPA in 2018 as a bookkeeper. Tracy has a strong customer service background and over 15 years experience in small business bookkeeping and payroll processing, including payroll tax reporting. She also has over 5 years experience in personal tax return preparation. Tracy earned an Associates degree in Accounting and Certificate in Bookkeeping in 2003 from Patrick Henry Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Averett University in 2010.
Tracy resides in Bassett, VA, where she enjoys spending time with family and friends, any outdoor activity, and trying new adventures.
